ABOUT US:

On April 7, 1952 Articles of Incorporation of Community House, Inc. were drawn up and on September 11, 1952, a building contract for $11,000 was arranged with Paul Rottman (husband of member, Martha Rottman) to erect the building. Completed on April 14, 1953, the dedication took place on Sunday afternoon, April 18, 1953 with a tea and reception. This occasion represented two years of planning, volunteer work and persistent solicitation of cash donations.

Two Dana Point organizations took the financial responsibility as legal owners:
Dana Point Art Guild and Dana Point Civic Association. The El Camino Real Woman’s Club became the third sponsor in 1958, with the guarantee that they would take responsibility for the thrift sales for five years. Thrift sales grossed $1,000 to $2,500 annually. Rentals of the building generated other income. The civic Association dissolved in 1963 and the Art Association in 1973 leaving only the El Camino Real Woman’s Club.

On July 9, 1975, The El Camino Real Woman’s Club became financially responsible for the Community House, Inc. if they could not meet their financial obligations. Community House by-laws were drawn up: 1) The Community House would be their regular meeting place. 2) Trustees of Community House would consist of members of El Camino Real woman’s Club. 3) All members of the Woman’s Club would have voting rights at the annual meeting

On May 6, 1978, the El Camino Real Woman’s Club changed their name  to The Dana Point Woman’s Club.
